The Ukrainian Navy announced on October 29, 2025 that it had strengthened its fleet with Combat Boat 90 (CB90) fast assault craft supplied by Sweden and Norway. With CB90s already in service, this delivery allows the Navy to form a full squadron of these versatile vessels. Ukrainian Navy Commander Rear Admiral Oleksii Neizhpapa personally tested the boats at sea, stating, “The CB90s will be a powerful and versatile tool in the hands of our servicemen.” The boats have been equipped to meet modern combat requirements, and crews are fully trained to utilize all capabilities effectively.

The CB90 fast assault craft measures approximately 14.9–16.3 meters in length and 3.8 meters in width; its light displacement is around 18 tons, rising to 20–24.5 tons when fully loaded. Powered by twin diesel engines with waterjet propulsion, these vessels can sustain speeds of 40 knots and reach up to 45 knots in short bursts. Their shallow draft provides high maneuverability for both coastal and river operations. In standard configuration, the boats can carry 18–21 personnel for landing operations and are equipped with reconnaissance sensor packages and Remote Weapon Stations (RWS) to operate effectively at night and in adverse weather conditions.

Armament can vary from .50 caliber heavy machine guns to 20–30 mm remote-controlled turrets; when needed, guided missiles or advanced targeting and guidance systems can also be integrated. This combination makes CB90s highly versatile and effective for rapid landing, coastal defense, patrolling, search and rescue, and special operations missions.

These deliveries are part of efforts within the Ukrainian Maritime Capability Coalition to enhance the Navy’s operational capacity. Rear Admiral Neizhpapa thanked partner countries for their support and emphasized the importance of cooperation and a shared vision. Navy officials note that the new boats will be quickly integrated into operations, further enhancing flexibility in coastal missions.
